45 Bible verses about Trials

I know without a doubt that God’s ultimate purpose is for me to become more and more like Jesus. So, my main goal in life should be to learn and grow and be shaped to be more like Him. Everything, even the tough times and struggles, is designed to help me reach that goal.

First Peter 1:6-71 says, "In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed." It's a powerful reminder that the trials I face will actually strengthen my faith, letting me rest in knowing that God is real and He’s always faithful.

James 1:2-3

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

for the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

for he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Hebrews 12:1-2

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;

and make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.

Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.

For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,

and the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:

looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Prayer

Redeeming God! I come to you today, seeking your face, to give you glory and honor. I ask for your strength in this difficult trial I'm facing. Lord, help me to press on, to keep rowing against the current. I know that you are my boat, my confidence, and you calm every storm and tempest within me. Thank you, Lord, that I can cast all my anxiety on you, knowing you care for me and will give me peace in the midst of this trial. Your word says, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." I thank you in advance for the victory, because I declare that I won't come out of this trial the same, but that it will produce in me an eternal weight of glory, because I know you are forging in me the faith and character of a true believer. In Jesus' name, Amen.
