Then Laban said to Jacob, “Because you are my kinsman, should you therefore serve me for nothing? Tell me, what shall your wages be?”


name your wages, and I will give it.”


These twenty years I have been with you; your ewes and your she-goats have not miscarried, and I have not eaten the rams of your flocks.


Thus I was; by day the heat consumed me, and the cold by night, and my sleep fled from my eyes.


You know that I have served your father with all my strength;


yet your father has cheated me and changed my wages ten times, but God did not permit him to harm me.

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God which is with me.


on frequent journeys, in danger from rivers, danger from robbers, danger from my own people, danger from Gentiles, danger in the city, danger in the wilderness, danger at sea, danger from false brethren;
