Now therefore, when I come to your servant my father, and the lad is not with us, then, as his life is bound up in the lad's life,


For you have exacted pledges of your brothers for nothing, and stripped the naked of their clothing.


Two women will be grinding at the mill; one is taken and one is left.


And he said to them, “Take heed, and beware of all covetousness; for a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”


“When you besiege a city for a long time, making war against it in order to take it, you shall not destroy its trees by wielding an axe against them; for you may eat of them, but you shall not cut them down. Are the trees in the field men that they should be besieged by you?


“When a man is newly married, he shall not go out with the army or be charged with any business; he shall be free at home one year, to be happy with his wife whom he has taken.


“If a man is found stealing one of his brethren, the people of Israel, and if he treats him as a slave or sells him, then that thief shall die; so you shall purge the evil from the midst of you.


and the sound of harpers and minstrels, of flute players and trumpeters, shall be heard in thee no more; and a craftsman of any craft shall be found in thee no more; and the sound of the millstone shall be heard in thee no more;
