And her brother Absalom said to her, “Has Amnon your brother been with you? Now hold your peace, my sister; he is your brother; do not take this to heart.” So Tamar dwelt, a desolate woman, in her brother Absalom's house.


He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the Lord!


Then you will say in your heart: ‘Who has borne me these? I was bereaved and barren, exiled and put away, but who has brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; whence then have these come?’ ”


My little children, with whom I am again in travail until Christ be formed in you!


She who is a real widow, and is left all alone, has set her hope on God and continues in supplications and prayers night and day;


Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread, but those who were hungry have ceased to hunger. The barren has borne seven, but she who has many children is forlorn.
