Though its root grows old in the earth and its stump dies in the ground,


my mouth is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to my jaws; you lay me in the dust of death.


May there be abundance of grain in the land; may it wave on the tops of the mountains; may its fruit be like Lebanon; and may people blossom in the cities like the grass of the field.


Grain is crushed for bread, but one does not thresh it forever; one drives the cart wheel and horses over it but does not pulverize it.


For to this end Christ died and lived again, so that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living.
