Then the earth reeled and rocked; the foundations also of the mountains trembled and reeled because he was angry.


Smoke went up from his nostrils and devouring fire from his mouth; glowing coals flamed forth from him.


How long, O Lord? Will you be angry forever? Will your jealous wrath burn like fire?


The Lord goes forth like a soldier; like a warrior he stirs up his fury; he cries out; he shouts aloud; he shows himself mighty against his foes.


I will lay waste mountains and hills and dry up all their herbage; I will turn the rivers into islands and dry up the pools.


therefore thus says the Lord God: I am speaking in my hot jealousy against the rest of the nations and against all Edom, who, with wholehearted joy and utter contempt, took my land as their possession, because of its pasture, to plunder it.


Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel and say to the mountains and hills, to the watercourses and valleys: Thus says the Lord God: I am speaking in my jealous wrath because you have suffered the insults of the nations;


Therefore thus says the Lord God: Now I will restore the fortunes of Jacob and have mercy on the whole house of Israel, and I will be jealous for my holy name.


I will send fire on Magog and on those who live securely in the coastlands, and they shall know that I am the Lord.


“My anger shall spend itself, and I will vent my fury on them and satisfy myself, and they shall know that I, the Lord, have spoken in my jealousy when I spend my fury on them.


Then the Lord became jealous for his land and had pity on his people.


The Lord roars from Zion and utters his voice from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth shake. But the Lord is a refuge for his people, a stronghold for the people of Israel.


A jealous and avenging God is the Lord; the Lord is avenging and wrathful; the Lord takes vengeance on his adversaries and prolongs it against his enemies.


So the angel who spoke with me said to me, “Proclaim this message: Thus says the Lord of hosts: I am very zealous for Jerusalem and for Zion,


the Lord will be unwilling to pardon them, for then the Lord’s anger and passion will smoke against them. All the curses written in this book will descend on them, and the Lord will blot out their names from under heaven.


For a fire is kindled by my anger and burns to the depths of Sheol; it devours the earth and its increase and sets on fire the foundations of the mountains.


At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heaven.”


for indeed our God is a consuming fire.


At that moment there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell; seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.


And there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, and a violent earthquake, such as had not occurred since people were upon the earth, so violent was that earthquake.


And every island fled away, and no mountains were to be found,
