2 Samuel 19:35 - Modern King James Version

35 I am eighty years old today, and can I discern between good and evil? Can your servant taste what I eat or what I drink? Can I any more hear the voice of singing men and singing women? Why then should your servant be still a burden to my lord the king?

And the king said to Absalom, No, my son, let us not all go now, lest we be too heavy upon you. And he pressed him. He would not go, however, but blessed him.


David said to him, If you pass on with me, then you shall be a burden to me.


Your servant will go a little way over Jordan with the king. And why should the king repay me with such a reward?

But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, even those who because of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
