At that time did king Ahaz send unto the kings of Assyria to help him.


When Jethro, the priest of Mid´i-an, Moses' father-in-law, heard of all that God had done for Moses, and for Israel his people, and that the Lord had brought Israel out of Egypt;


And Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for God: and Aaron came, and all the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses' father-in-law before God.


And Moses let his father-in-law depart; and he went his way into his own land.


And Moses went out to meet his father-in-law, and did obeisance, and kissed him; and they asked each other of their welfare; and they came into the tent.


Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Mid´i-an: and he led the flock to the back side of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.


And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father-in-law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren which are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace.


Go unto the house of the Rech´abites, and speak unto them, and bring them into the house of the Lord, into one of the chambers, and give them wine to drink.


And when king Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt in the south, heard tell that Israel came by the way of the spies; then he fought against Israel, and took some of them prisoners.


In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judea,


and the south, and the plain of the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, unto Zo´ar.


And the Lord said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.

And he gathered unto him the children of Ammon and Am´alek, and went and smote Israel, and possessed the city of palm trees.


Now Heber the Kenite, which was of the children of Hobab the father-in-law of Moses, had severed himself from the Kenites, and pitched his tent unto the plain of Za-ana´im, which is by Kedesh.


Howbeit Sis´era fled away on his feet to the tent of Ja´el the wife of Heber the Kenite: for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite.


And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amal´ekites, lest I destroy you with them: for ye showed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amal´ekites.


And Achish said, Whither have ye made a road today? And David said, Against the south of Judah, and against the south of the Jerah´meelites, and against the south of the Kenites.


and to them which were in Rachal, and to them which were in the cities of the Jerah´meelites, and to them which were in the cities of the Kenites,
