Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.


And as they came out, they found a man of Cyre´ne, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.


Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.


Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.


And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.


And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.


Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.


esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward.


looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.


For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.


Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.


wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
