In the two and fiftieth year of Azari´ah king of Judah, Pekah the son of Remali´ah began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned twenty years.


In those days the Lord began to send against Judah Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remali´ah.


Then Rezin king of Syria, and Pekah son of Remali´ah king of Israel, came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him.


And Abi´jah and his people slew them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.


and he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The Lord is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.


So the Edomites revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. The same time also did Libnah revolt from under his hand; because he had forsaken the Lord God of his fathers.


And Zichri, a mighty man of E´phra-im, slew Ma-asei´ah the king's son, and Az´rikam the governor of the house, and Elka´nah that was next to the king.


because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways:


But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.


And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the Lord shall be consumed.


Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.


And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzzi´ah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remali´ah, king of Israel, went up toward Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it.


And the head of E´phra-im is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remali´ah's son. If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.


Manas´seh, E´phra-im; and E´phra-im, Manas´seh: and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.


Thou hast forsaken me, saith the Lord, thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am weary with repenting.


Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the Lord thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord God of hosts.


before thy wickedness was discovered, as at the time of thy reproach of the daughters of Syria, and all that are round about her, the daughters of the Philistines, which despise thee round about.


But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:


The Lord shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them; and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.


And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith.


When ye have transgressed the covenant of the Lord your God, which he commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them; then shall the anger of the Lord be kindled against you, and ye shall perish quickly from off the good land which he hath given unto you.


If ye forsake the Lord, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.
