55 And the families of the scribes which dwelt at Jabez; the Ti´rathites, the Shim´e-athites, and Su´chathites. These are the Kenites that came of Hemath, the father of the house of Rechab.

55 The clans of the scribes who lived at Jabez: the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, and the Sucathites. They were Kenites who descended from Hammath, Beth-rechab’s father.
55 as well as the families of the scribes living in Jabesh, those singing and making music, and those dwelling in tents. These are the Kenites, who went forth from Calor, the father of the house of Rechab.
And when he was departed thence, he lighted on Jehon´adab the son of Rechab coming to meet him: and he saluted him, and said to him, Is thine heart right, as my heart is with thy heart? And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amal´ekites, lest I destroy you with them: for ye showed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amal´ekites.
