1 Chronicles 19:2 - King James Version with Apocrypha - American Edition

2 And David said, I will show kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father showed kindness to me. And David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. So the servants of David came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun, to comfort him.

And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely show thee kindness for Jonathan thy father's sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually.


And he said unto him, Say now unto her, Behold, thou hast been careful for us with all this care; what is to be done for thee? wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the host? And she answered, I dwell among mine own people.


Now it came to pass after this, that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon died, and his son reigned in his stead.


But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, Thinkest thou that David doth honor thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? are not his servants come unto thee for to search, and to overthrow, and to spy out the land?


On that day they read in the book of Moses in the audience of the people; and therein was found written, that the Ammonite and the Moabite should not come into the congregation of God for ever;


Now Tobi´ah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox go up, he shall even break down their stone wall.


But it came to pass, that when Sanbal´lat, and Tobi´ah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ash´dodites, heard that the walls of Jerusalem were made up, and that the breaches began to be stopped, then they were very wroth,


And the king said, What honor and dignity hath been done to Mor´decai for this? Then said the king's servants that ministered unto him, There is nothing done for him.


Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man.


and many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.


And when David came to Ziklag, he sent of the spoil unto the elders of Judah, even to his friends, saying, Behold a present for you of the spoil of the enemies of the Lord;
