Returning, he found Balac standing by his burnt-offering, with all the princes of the Moabites.


Therefore taking up his parable, again he said: Balaam, the son of Beor, hath said: The man whose eye is stopped up hath said:


He saw also the Cinite, and took up his parable, and said: Thy habitation indeed is strong: but though thou build thy nest in a rock,


And taking up his parable, again he said: Alas, who shall live when God shall do these things?


He took up his parable and said: Balaam the son of Beor hath said: The man hath said, whose eye is stopped up:


Another parable he spoke to them: The kingdom of heaven is like to leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, until the whole was leavened.


That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden from the foundation of the world.


And they sought to lay hands on him, but they feared the people. For they knew that he spoke this parable to them. And leaving him, they went their way.


Because they would not meet you with bread and water in the way, when you came out of Egypt: and because they hired against thee Balaam, the son of Beor, from Mesopotamia in Syria, to curse thee.


And the Philistine said: I have defied the bands of Israel this day. Give me a man, and let him fight with me hand to hand.


For I thy servant have killed both a lion and a bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be also as one of them. I will go now, and take away the reproach of the people. For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, who hath dared to curse the army of the living God?


And David said to the Philistine: Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, which thou hast defied.
