Psalm 69:8

Because of all mine adversaries I am become a reproach, Yea, unto my neighbors exceedingly, And a fear to mine acquaintance: They that did see me without fled from me.


My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my plague; And my kinsmen stand afar off.


Wherewith thine enemies have reproached, O Jehovah, Wherewith they have reproached the footsteps of thine anointed.


Blessed be Jehovah for evermore. Amen, and Amen.


I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair; I hid not my face from shame and spitting.


He was despised, and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and as one from whom men hide their face he was despised; and we esteemed him not.


Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.


O Jehovah, thou knowest; remember me, and visit me, and avenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering: know that for thy sake I have suffered reproach.


But all this is come to pass, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples left him, and fled.


He came unto his own, and they that were his own received him not.


For even his brethren did not believe on him.


And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab’s anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why art thou come down? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thy heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle.
