In his days Pharaohnechoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates: and king Josiah went against him; and he slew him at Megiddo, when he had seen him.


And Pharaohnechoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the room of Josiah his father, and turned his name to Jehoiakim, and took Jehoahaz away: and he came to Egypt, and died there.


Therefore thus saith Yahweh concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah; They shall not lament for him, saying, Ah my brother or, Ah sister they shall not lament for him, saying, Ah master or, Ah his honour


But to the land whereunto they desire to return, thither shall they not return.


For thus saith Yahweh of hosts, the Elohim of Israel; As mine anger and my fury hath been poured forth upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem; so shall my fury be poured forth upon you, when ye shall enter into Egypt: and ye shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach; and ye shall see this place no more.


And ye shall perish among the heathen, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.
