(When all ate of the meats of the Gentiles) he kept his soul and never was defiled with their meats.
Because I kept God in view with all my heart,
(even though they all ate from the foods of the Gentiles,) he guarded his soul and never was contaminated with their foods.
Since I took seriously the commands of the Most High God,
because I remembered God with all my soul.
Obeying God was the most important thing in my life.
