My friends are they that scorn me; my eyes pour out tears to Eloah.


“Even today my complaint is bitter; my hand is heavy on account of my groaning.


so am I allotted months of futility. And nights of trouble have been appointed to me.


The dead do not praise Yah, Nor any going down to silence.


“Hear, O יהוה, and show me favour; יהוה, be my helper!”


יהוה, all my desire is before You; And my sighing has not been hid from You.

My tears have been my food day and night, While they say to me all day, “Where is your Elohim?”


I am worn out from my crying; My throat is dry; My eyes grow dim As I wait for my Elohim.


Is Your loving-commitment declared in the burial-site? Your trustworthiness in the place of destruction?


My eye grows dim because of affliction. יהוה, I have called upon You, all day long; I have stretched out my hands to You.


“For She’ol does not thank You, nor death praise You; those who go down to the pit do not watch for Your truth.


“And you shall say this word to them, ‘Let my eyes flow with tears night and day, and let them not cease; for the maiden daughter of my people has been crushed with a mighty blow, with a very severe wound.


“This is why I weep. My eye, my eye is running down with water, Because the comforter, Who could bring back my life, Has been far from me. My children are stunned, For the enemy has prevailed.”


She weeps bitterly at night, And her tears are upon her cheeks. Among all her lovers there is no comforter for her. All her friends have betrayed her, They have become her enemies.


My eyes are spent with tears, My inward parts ferment, My bile has been poured on the ground Because of the destruction of the daughter of my people, As children and the infants languish In the streets of the city.


And standing behind, at His feet, weeping, she began to wet His feet with her tears, and wiping them with the hair of her head, and was kissing His feet and anointing them with the perfume.
