And all the people came up after him. And the people played the flutes and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth was split by their noise!


Let the song be to you as in a night set apart for a festival, and gladness of heart as he who is going with a flute, to come into the mountain of יהוה, to the Rock of Yisra’ĕl.

And יהושע said to them, “Are the friends of the bridegroom able to mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days shall come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they shall fast.


And when יהושע came into the ruler’s house, and saw the flute players and the crowd making a noise,


“And his older son was in the field, and when he came and approached the house, he heard music and dancing.


And a great number of the people were following Him, and women who also were mourning and lamenting Him.


“They are like children sitting in the market-place and calling to each other, saying, ‘We played the flute for you and you did not dance, we lamented for you and you did not weep.’


And they were all weeping and mourning for her, and He said, “Do not weep, she is not dead, but sleeps.”
