18 And the scribes and the chief priests heard it and they were seeking how to destroy Him, for they feared Him, because all the crowd was astonished at His teaching.

And the sovereign of Yisra’ĕl said to Yehoshaphat, “There is still one man, Miḵayehu son of Yimlah, to inquire of יהוה by him. But I hate him, because he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.” And Yehoshaphat said, “Let not the sovereign say so!”


Thus said יהוה, the Redeemer of Yisra’ĕl, their Set-apart One, to the despised, to the loathed One of the nation, to the Servant of rulers, “Sovereigns shall see and arise, rulers also shall bow themselves, because of יהוה who is steadfast, the Set-apart One of Yisra’ĕl. And He has chosen You!”


But when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonders which He did, and the children crying out in the Set-apart Place and saying,“Hoshia-na to the Son of Dawiḏ!” they were greatly displeased,


And it came to be, when יהושע had ended these words, that the people were astonished at His teaching,


And they were astonished at His teaching, for He was teaching them as possessing authority, and not as the scribes.


But if we say, ‘From men’ – they feared the people, for all held that Yoḥanan was a prophet indeed.


And they were seeking to seize Him, but feared the crowd, for they knew He had spoken the parable against them. And leaving Him, they went away.


And the Pharisees went out and immediately plotted with the Herodians against Him, how to destroy Him.


for Herodes feared Yoḥanan, knowing that he was a righteous and set-apart man, and he protected him. And when he heard him, he was much perplexed, yet heard him gladly.


And He was teaching daily in the Set-apart Place. But the chief priests and the scribes and the leaders of the people were seeking to destroy Him,


And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers.


And the chief priests and the scribes sought to lay hands on Him in the same hour, but they feared the people, for they knew that He had spoken this parable against them.


And all were bearing witness to Him, and marvelled at the pleasant words that came out of His mouth. And they said, “Is this not the son of Yosĕph?”


And after this יהושע was walking in Galil, for He did not wish to walk in Yehuḏah, because the Yehuḏim were seeking to kill Him.


“Did not Mosheh give you the Torah? Yet not one of you does the Torah! Why do you seek to kill Me?”


The officers answered, “Never has any man spoken like this Man!”


And as he reasoned about righteousness, and self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix became frightened and said, “For the present, go. And when I find time I shall send for you.”
