Judges 6:39 - The Scriptures 2009

39 And Giḏ‛on said to Elohim, “Do not be displeased with me, and let me speak only this time: Please let me try only this time with the fleece, please let it be dry only on the fleece, and let there be dew on all the ground.”

And he said, “Let not יהוה be displeased, and let me speak only this time: Suppose there are found ten?” And He said, “I would not destroy it for the sake of ten.”


“When I came, why was there no man? When I called, why was there no one to answer? Was My hand too short to ransom? Or have I no power to deliver? See, by My rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness; their fish stink for there is not water, and die of thirst.


“Because of this I say to you: the reign of Elohim shall be taken from you and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits of it.


but the sons of the reign shall be cast out into outer darkness – there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”


But speaking boldly, Sha’ul and Barnaḇa said, “It was necessary that the word of Elohim should be spoken to you first, but since you thrust it away, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, see, we turn to the nations.


“And He said to me, ‘Go, because I shall send you far from here to the nations.’ ”


Therefore let it be known to you that the deliverance of Elohim has been sent to the nations, and they shall hear!


And it was so, and he rose early the next morning and pressed the fleece, and wrung dew out of the fleece, to fill a bowl with water.


And Elohim did so that night, and it was dry on the fleece only, but there was dew on all the ground.
