2 And the wife of Gil‛aḏ bore sons. And when his wife’s sons grew up, they drove Yiphtaḥ out, and said to him, “You shall not have an inheritance in the house of our father, for you are the son of another woman.”

So she said to Aḇraham, “Drive out this female servant and her son, for the son of this female servant shall not inherit with my son, with Yitsḥaq.”


To deliver you from the strange woman, From the foreigner who flatters with her words,


For why should you, my son, Be captivated by a strange woman, And embrace the bosom of a foreigner?


For the lips of a strange woman drip honey, And her mouth is smoother than oil;


But what does the Scripture say? “Cast out the female servant and her son, for the son of the female servant shall by no means be heir with the son of the free woman.”


A mamzer shall not enter the community of יהוה, even a tenth generation of his shall not enter the community of יהוה.


And Yiphtaḥ the Gil‛aḏite was a mighty brave one, but he was the son of a whore. And Gil‛aḏ brought forth Yiphtaḥ.


And Yiphtaḥ fled from his brothers and dwelt in the land of Toḇ. And worthless men banded together with Yiphtaḥ and went out with him.
