I say to Eloah, ‘Do not declare me wrong, show me why You strive with me.


But I would speak to the Almighty, and I delight to reason with Ěl.


I would present my case before Him, and fill my mouth with proofs.


“As Ěl lives, who has turned aside my right-ruling, and the Almighty, who has made my life bitter,


Why does He give light to the sufferer, and life to the bitter of being,


Why does He give light to a man whose way has been hidden, and whom Eloah has hedged in?


You have become cruel to me; with the power of Your hand You oppose me.


Who would give me a hearing? See, my signature, let the Almighty answer me, and let my accuser write a bill!


Why have you complained against Him? Because He does not answer all His matters?


Now gird up your loins like a man, and I ask you, and you answer Me.


And יהוה answered Iyoḇ, and said,


And Iyoḇ answered יהוה and said,


Am I the sea, or a sea monster, that You set a guard over me?


If one wished to dispute with Him, he would not answer Him one time out of a thousand.


Whatever shall be, has already been named, and it is known that he is son of Aḏam. And he is unable to contend with Him who is mightier than he.


With whom did He take counsel, and who instructed Him, and taught Him in the path of right-ruling? Who taught Him knowledge, and showed Him the way of understanding?


Near is He who declares Me right. Who would contend with Me? Let us stand together. Who is My adversary? Let him come near Me.


“I have laid a snare for you, and you were captured, O Baḇel, and you yourself did not know! You have been found and also caught, because you strove against יהוה.”


“What do you mean when you use this proverb concerning the land of Yisra’ĕl, saying, ‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are blunted’?


And when they received it, they grumbled against the householder,”


Do we provoke the Master to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?


For “Who has known the mind of יהוה? Who shall instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Messiah.
