Jeremiah 31:9 - The Scriptures 2009

9 “With weeping they shall come, and with their prayers I bring them. I shall make them walk by rivers of waters, in a straight way in which they do not stumble. For I shall be a Father to Yisra’ĕl, and Ephrayim – he is My first-born.

And He guided them by the right way, To go to a city to settle.

And one shall say, “Heap it up! Heap it up! Prepare the way, take the stumbling-block out of the way of My people.”


who led them through the deep? Like a horse in the wilderness they did not stumble.”


For You are our Father, though Aḇraham does not know us, and Yisra’ĕl does not recognise us. You, O יהוה, are our Father, our Redeemer – Your Name is from of old.


And now, O יהוה, You are our Father. We are the clay, and You our potter. And we are all the work of Your hand.


“But I said, ‘How would I put you among the children and give you a pleasant land, a splendid inheritance of the hosts of nations?’ ”And I said, ‘Call Me, “My Father,” and do not turn away from Me.’


“Shall you not from now on cry to Me, ‘My father, You are the guide of my youth?


“Is Ephrayim a precious son to Me, a child of delights? For though I spoke against him, I still remembered him. That is why My affections were deeply moved for him. I have great compassion for him,” declares יהוה.


“In those days and at that time,” declares יהוה, “the children of Yisra’ĕl shall come, they and the children of Yehuḏah together, weeping as they come, and seek יהוה their Elohim.


He strove with the Messenger and overcame, he wept and sought His favour. He found Him in Bĕyth Ěl, and there He spoke to us –


Afterward the children of Yisra’ĕl shall return, and seek יהוה their Elohim, and Dawiḏ their sovereign, and fear יהוה and His goodness, in the latter days.


“And I shall pour on the house of Dawiḏ and on the inhabitants of Yerushalayim a spirit of favour and prayers. And they shall look on Me whom they pierced, and they shall mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son. And they shall be in bitterness over Him as a bitterness over the first-born.


Have we not all one Father? Did not one Ěl create us? Why do we act treacherously against one another, to profane the covenant of the fathers?


On the west side: the banner of the camp of Ephrayim according to their divisions, and the leader of the children of Ephrayim: Elishama, son of Ammihuḏ.


For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Yeshayahu, saying, “A voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way of יהוה, make His paths straight.’ ”


Blessed are those who mourn, because they shall be comforted.


“This, then, is the way you should pray: ‘Our Father who is in the heavens, let Your Name be set-apart,


“Blessed are you who hunger now, because you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, because you shall laugh.


And in the same way the Spirit does help in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray, but the Spirit Himself pleads our case for us with groanings unutterable.


“And I shall be a Father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to Me, says יהוה the Almighty.”


“You are the children of יהוה your Elohim. Do not cut yourselves nor shave the front of your head for the dead,


“Do you do this to יהוה, O foolish and unwise people? Is He not your Father, who bought you, Who created you and established you?


and make straight paths for your feet, lest the lame be turned aside, but instead, to be healed.


to the entire gathering and assembly of the first-born having been enrolled in heaven, and to Elohim the Judge of all, and to the spirits of righteous men made perfect,


who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and petitions with strong crying and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His reverent fear,


because the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne shall shepherd them and lead them to fountains of waters of life. And Elohim shall wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
