If my step does turn from the way, or my heart has gone after my eyes, or if any spot has clung to my hands,


For the wrongdoer boasted of his cravings; And the greedy one cursed and despised יהוה.


But you yourself, seek out from all the people able men, who fear Elohim, men of truth, hating unfair gain. And place these over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.


For their heart plots to ravage, And their lips talk of trouble.


And the dogs have a strong appetite, they never have enough. And they are shepherds! They have not known understanding. All of them look to their own way, every one for his own gain, from his own end, saying,


“As a partridge that broods but does not hatch, so is he who gets riches, but not by right. It leaves him in the midst of his days, and at his end he is a fool.”


“Because they have forsaken Me and have profaned this place, and have burned incense in it to other mighty ones whom neither they, their fathers, nor the sovereigns of Yehuḏah have known, and they have filled this place with the blood of the innocents,


Thus said יהוה, “Do right-ruling and righteousness, and deliver him who is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor. Do not maltreat nor do violence to the stranger, the fatherless, or the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place.


“For from the least of them even to the greatest of them, they are all greedy for gain. And from the prophet even to the priest, all act falsely.


For thus said יהוה of hosts, “Cut down her trees, and cast up a siege mound against Yerushalayim. She is the city to be punished, in whose midst there is only oppression.


if you do not oppress the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, or walk after other mighty ones to your own evil,


“Therefore I give their wives to others, and their fields to possessing ones. For from the least even to the greatest, they are all greedy for gain. From the prophet to the priest, all act falsely.


if he has oppressed the poor and needy, has committed robbery, he does not return a pledge, has lifted his eyes to the idols, or did abomination,


And he went about among the lions, and became a young lion. And he learned to tear the prey, he devoured men.


And he knew their widows, and laid waste their cities. And the land and all who filled it was stunned by the noise of his roaring.


And they put him in a cage in chains, and brought him to the sovereign of Baḇel. They brought him in nets, so his roar was no longer heard on the mountains of Yisra’ĕl.


“See the leaders of Yisra’ĕl: each one has used his arm to shed blood in you.


“And they come to you as people do, and they sit before you as My people, and they hear your words, but they do not do them. For with their mouth they show much love – their hearts pursue their greedy gain.


And they coveted fields and seized them, also houses, and took them away. And they oppressed a man and his house, a man and his inheritance.

Her rulers in her midst are roaring lions, her judges are evening wolves, they shall leave no bone until morning.


having been filled with all unrighteousness, whoring, wickedness, greed, evil; filled with envy, murder, fighting, deceit, evil habits; whisperers,


nor thieves, nor greedy of gain, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers shall inherit the reign of Elohim.


Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: whoring, uncleanness, passion, evil desire and greed of gain, which is idolatry.


“When I saw among the spoil a lovely garment from Shin‛ar, and two hundred sheqels of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty sheqels, I coveted them and took them. And see, they are hidden in the ground in the midst of my tent, with the silver under it.”


having eyes filled with an adulteress, and unable to cease from sin, enticing unstable beings, having a heart trained in greed, children of a curse,


and in greed, with fabricated words, they shall use you for gain. From of old their judgment does not linger, and their destruction does not slumber.


But his sons did not walk in his ways, and turned aside after own gain, and took bribes, and twisted right-ruling.
