Then I contended with them and cursed them, and struck some of them and pulled out their hair, and made them swear by Elohim, saying, “You do not give your daughters as wives to their sons, nor take their daughters for your sons or yourselves.


They open wide their mouths at me, in scorn they have stricken my cheeks, they mass themselves together against me.


They have loathed me, they have kept far from me, and did not refrain from spitting in my face.


“The ploughers ploughed on my back, They made their furrows long.”


Because I have borne reproach for Your sake; Shame has covered my face.


I have become a stranger to my brothers, And a foreigner to my mother’s children;


But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our crookednesses. The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.


He was oppressed and He was afflicted, but He did not open His mouth. He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, but He did not open His mouth.


Let him give his cheek To the one who strikes him – He is filled with reproach.


Now you are raided, O daughter of raiders, a siege has been laid against us. They strike the Judge of Yisra’ĕl with a rod on the cheek.


And יהוה said to Mosheh, “If her father had but spit in her face, would she not be ashamed seven days? Let her be shut out of the camp seven days, and after that let her be readmitted.”


Then they spat in His face and beat Him, and others slapped Him,


Then he released Barabba to them, but having יהושע whipped, he delivered Him over to be impaled.


And spitting on Him they took the reed and struck Him on the head.


but I say to you, do not resist the wicked. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.


And some began to spit on Him, and to blindfold Him, and to beat Him, and to say to Him, “Prophesy!” And the officers struck Him with the palms of their hands.


And they kept beating Him on the head with a reed and were spitting on Him. And bending the knee, they were bowing down to Him.


And when He had said this, one of the officers who stood by slapped יהושע in the face, saying, “Do You answer the high priest this way?”


looking to the Prince and Perfecter of our belief, יהושע, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the stake, having despised the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of Elohim.
