Hebrews 11:13 - The Scriptures 2009

13 In belief all these died, not having received the promises, but seeing them from a distance, welcomed and embraced them, and confessed that they were aliens and strangers on the earth.

And Aḇraham sojourned in the land of the Philistines many days.


I am a foreigner and a sojourner among you. Give me property for a burial-site among you, so that I bury my dead from my presence.


And Aḇraham breathed his last and died in a good old age, aged and satisfied, and was gathered to his people.


And Ya‛aqoḇ said to Pharaoh, “The days of the years of my sojournings are one hundred and thirty years. Few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and they have not reached the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their sojournings.”


And Yisra’ĕl said to Yosĕph, “See, I am dying, but Elohim shall be with you and bring you back to the land of your fathers.


“The sceptre shall not turn aside from Yehuḏah, nor an Inscriber from between his feet, until Shiloh comes, and to Him is the obedience of peoples.


I have waited for your deliverance, O יהוה!”


All these are the twelve tribes of Yisra’ĕl, and this is what their father spoke to them. And he blessed them, he blessed each one according to his own blessing.


And when Ya‛aqoḇ ended commanding his sons, he drew his feet up into the bed and breathed his last, and was gathered to his people.


And Yosĕph said to his brothers, “I am dying, but Elohim shall certainly visit you and bring you out of this land to the land of which He swore to Aḇraham, to Yitsḥaq, and to Ya‛aqoḇ.”


For I know that my Redeemer lives, and as the Last shall rise over the dust;


I am a sojourner in the earth; Do not hide Your commands from me.


Hear my prayer, O יהוה, And give ear to my cry; Do not be silent at my tears; For I am a stranger with You, A sojourner, as all my fathers were.”


And she bore him a son, and he called his name Gĕreshom, for he said, “I have become a sojourner in a foreign land.”


‘And the land is not to be sold beyond reclaim, for the land is Mine, for you are sojourners and settlers with Me.


And he replied to him, “I am not going, but I am going to my own land and to my relatives.”


I see Him, but not now; I observe Him, but not near. A Star shall come out of Ya‛aqoḇ, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Yisra’ĕl, and shall smite the corners of Mo’aḇ, and shall destroy all the sons of Shĕth.


for truly I say to you, that many prophets and righteous ones longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.


Yeshayahu said this when he saw His esteem and spoke of Him.


Your father Aḇraham was glad that he should see My day, and he saw it and did rejoice.


and being completely persuaded that what He had promised He was also able to do.


For in this expectation we were saved, but expectation that is seen is not expectation, for when anyone sees, does he expect it?


We are not looking on what is seen, but on what is not seen. For what is seen passes away, but what is not seen is everlasting.


Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Master –


So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens of the set-apart ones and members of the household of Elohim,


For those who speak this way make it clear that they seek a fatherland.


By belief, Aḇraham, when he was tried, offered up Yitsḥaq, and he who had received the promises offered up his only brought-forth son,


By belief, he left Mitsrayim, not fearing the wrath of the sovereign, for he was steadfast, as seeing Him who is invisible.


And having obtained witness through the belief, all these did not receive the promise,


Kĕpha, an emissary of יהושע Messiah, to the chosen, strangers of the dispersion in Pontos, Galatia, Kappadokia, Asia, and Bithunia,


And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, pass the time of your sojourning in fear,


Beloved ones, I appeal to you as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from fleshly lusts which battle against the being,


And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall set our hearts at rest before Him,
