And again, she gave birth to his brother Heḇel. And Heḇel became a keeper of sheep, but Qayin became a tiller of the ground.


and called his name Noaḥ, saying, “This one does comfort us concerning our work and the toil of our hands, because of the ground which יהוה has cursed.”


These three were the sons of Noaḥ, and all the earth was overspread from them.


And he drank of the wine and was drunk, and became uncovered in his tent.


The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, But violence covers the mouth of the wrong.


He who tills his land is satisfied with bread, But he who pursues vanities is lacking heart.


I passed by the field of the lazy, And by the vineyard of the man lacking heart;


And the increase of the land is for all. The sovereign himself is served from the field.


Do not look upon me, because I am dark, Because the sun has tanned me. My mother’s sons were displeased with me. They made me the keeper of the vineyards, My own vineyard I have not kept.


Who serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat of its fruit? Or who shepherds a flock and does not feed on the milk of the flock?


And who is the man who has planted a vineyard and has not begun to use it? Let him also go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle and another man should begin to use it.


“You become engaged to a wife, but another man does lie with her. You build a house, but do not dwell in it. You plant a vineyard, but do not use its fruit.
