28 And He said, “Your name is no longer called Ya‛aqoḇ, but Yisra’ĕl, because you have striven with Elohim and with men, and have overcome.”

And Elohim said to Aḇraham, “As for Sarai your wife, do not call her name Sarai, for Sarah is her name.


“And no longer is your name called Aḇram, but your name shall be Aḇraham, because I shall make you a father of many nations.


But Ya‛aqoḇ said, “Sell me your birthright today.”


But in a dream by night Elohim came to Laḇan the Aramean, and said to him, “Guard yourself, that you do not speak to Ya‛aqoḇ either good or evil.”


And Ya‛aqoḇ was left alone. And a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day.


So He asked him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Ya‛aqoḇ.”


And he set up a slaughter-place there and called it Ěl Elohĕ Yisra’ĕl.


And Ěsaw ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept.


And Elohim said to him, “Your name is Ya‛aqoḇ, your name is no longer called Ya‛aqoḇ, but Yisra’ĕl is your name.” So He called his name Yisra’ĕl.


and sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet, and called his name Yeḏiḏeyah, because of יהוה.


And Ěliyahu took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Ya‛aqoḇ, to whom the word of יהוה had come, saying, “Yisra’ĕl is your name.”


To this day they are doing according to the former rulings: they are not fearing יהוה, nor do they follow their laws or their right-rulings, or the Torah and command which יהוה had commanded the children of Ya‛aqoḇ, whose name He made Yisra’ĕl,


And Aḇraham brought forth Yitsḥaq. The sons of Yitsḥaq: Ěsaw and Yisra’ĕl.


When a man’s ways please יהוה, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.


But now, thus said יהוה, your Creator, O Ya‛aqoḇ, and He who formed you, O Yisra’ĕl, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name, you are Mine.


“And you shall leave your name as a curse to My chosen, for the Master יהוה shall put you to death, and call His servants by another name,


These are the names of the men whom Mosheh sent to spy out the land. And Mosheh called Hoshĕa the son of Nun, Yehoshua.


And he brought him to יהושע. And looking at him, יהושע said, “You are Shim‛on the son of Yonah, you shall be called Kĕpha” (which means a Stone).


“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. To him who overcomes I shall give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I shall give him a white stone, and on the stone a renewed Name written which no one knows except him who receives it.” ’


And Sha’ul said to Dawiḏ, “Blessed are you, my son Dawiḏ, achieving much, and indeed prevailing!” Then Dawiḏ went on his way, and Sha’ul returned to his place.
