18 And Yitsḥaq dug again the wells of water which they had dug in the days of Aḇraham his father, for the Philistines had stopped them up after the death of Aḇraham. And he called them by the names which his father had called them.

And Aḇraham reproved Aḇimeleḵ because of a well of water which Aḇimeleḵ’s servants had seized.


And he said, “Take these seven ewe lambs from my hand, to be my witness that I have dug this well.”


So he called that place Be’ĕrsheḇa, because the two of them swore an oath there.


So Yitsḥaq went from there and pitched his tent in the wadi Gerar, and dwelt there.


But when Yitsḥaq’s servants dug in the wadi and found a well of running water there,


And he built towers in the wilderness, and dug many wells, for he had much livestock, both in the low country and in the plain, farmers and vinedressers in the mountains and in Karmel, for he loved the soil.


The sorrows of those who run after another one are increased; I would not pour out their drink offerings of blood, Nor take up their names on my lips.


“And I shall remove the names of the Ba‛als from her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name.


“And it shall be in that day,” declares יהוה of hosts, “that I cut off the names of the idols from the earth, and they shall be remembered no more, and I shall also remove the prophets and the unclean spirit from the earth.


Neḇo and Ba‛al Me‛on – the names being changed – and Shiḇmah. And they gave other names to the cities which they built.
