19 “Look, please, your servant has found favour in your eyes, and you have increased your loving-commitment which you have shown me by saving my life, but I am unable to escape to the mountains, lest calamity overtake me and I die.

So Yosĕph found favour in his eyes, and served him, and he appointed him over his house, and gave into his hand all that he had.


But Noaḥ found favour in the eyes of יהוה.


“Then they shall say, ‘Because they have forsaken יהוה their Elohim, who brought their fathers out of the land of Mitsrayim, and they took hold of other mighty ones, and bowed themselves to them and served them. That is why יהוה has brought all this evil on them.’ ”


And He answered him and said, “O unbelieving generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him to Me.”


And her neighbours and relatives heard how יהוה had shown great compassion to her, and they rejoiced with her.


What then shall we say to this? If Elohim is for us, who is against us?


“Then My displeasure shall burn against them in that day, and I shall forsake them and hide My face from them, and they shall be consumed. And many evils and distresses shall come upon them, and it shall be said in that day, ‘Is it not because our Elohim is not in our midst that these evils have come upon us?’


And Dawiḏ said in his heart, “Now I shall perish by the hand of Sha’ul, some day. There is naught better for me than to escape to the land of the Philistines. Then Sha’ul shall give up searching for me any longer in any part of Yisra’ĕl, and I shall escape out of his hand.”
