Ezra 8:22 - The Scriptures 2009

22 for I was ashamed to ask of the sovereign a group of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy on the way, because we had spoken to the sovereign, saying, “The hand of our Elohim is upon all those for good who seek Him, but His power and His wrath are against all those who forsake Him.”

this Ezra came up from Baḇel. And he was a scribe, skilled in the Torah of Mosheh, which יהוה Elohim of Yisra’ĕl had given. And the sovereign gave him all he asked, according to the hand of יהוה his Elohim upon him.


For on the first day of the first new moon he began to go up from Baḇel, and on the first day of the fifth new moon he came to Yerushalayim, according to the good hand of his Elohim upon him.


Then we set out from the Ahawa River on the twelfth of the first new moon, to go to Yerushalayim. And the hand of our Elohim was upon us, and He delivered us from the hand of the enemy and from ambush along the way.


Then I came to the governors beyond the River, and gave to them the letters of the sovereign. Now the sovereign had sent commanders of the army and horsemen with me.


They, they have bowed down and fallen; But we have risen and are established.


יהוה redeems the lives of His servants, And none of those taking refuge in Him are guilty.


Who knows the power of Your displeasure? And your wrath, according to the fear of You?


יהוה is good to those waiting for Him, To the being who seeks Him.


And we know that all matters work together for good to those who love Elohim, to those who are called according to his purpose.


But I have used none of these, nor have I written this that it should be done so to me. For it would be better for me to die than that anyone should make my boasting empty.


Because if I have boasted somewhat about you to him, I am not ashamed. But as we spoke to you in all truth, even so our boasting to Titos was found true.


“But the righteous shall live by belief, but if anyone draws back, my being has no pleasure in him.”


“Thus says all the congregation of יהוה, ‘What is this trespass you have committed against the Elohim of Yisra’ĕl, to turn away this day from following יהוה, in that you have built for yourselves a slaughter-place, to rebel against יהוה this day?


when you transgress the covenant of יהוה your Elohim, which He commanded you, and shall go and serve other mighty ones, and bow down to them. And the displeasure of יהוה shall burn against you, and you shall perish quickly from the good land which He has given you.”


“Because the eyes of יהוה are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayers, but the face of יהוה is against those who do evil.”
