Deuteronomy 2:7 - The Scriptures 2009

7 For יהוה your Elohim has blessed you in all the work of your hand. He has known your wandering through this great wilderness. These forty years יהוה your Elohim has been with you, you have not lacked any matter.’

And Yitsḥaq sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold, and יהוה blessed him.


And Laḇan said to him, “If please I have found favour in your eyes, stay, for I have divined that יהוה has blessed me for your sake.”


And his master saw that יהוה was with him and that יהוה made all he did to prosper in his hand.


And it came to be, from the time that he appointed him over his house and all that he had, that יהוה blessed the Mitsrian’s house for Yosĕph’s sake. And the blessing of יהוה was on all that he had in the house and in the field.


“And for forty years You sustained them in the wilderness – they lacked not. Their garments did not wear out and their feet did not swell.


For He knows the way that I take. When He has tried me, I would come forth as gold.


For יהוה knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the wrong comes to naught.


They wandered in a wilderness, in a desert way; They found no city to dwell in.


I exult and rejoice in Your loving-commitment, For You have seen my affliction; You have known the distresses of my life,


And let the pleasantness Of יהוה our Elohim be upon us, And confirm the work of our hands for us; O confirm the work of our hands!


And the children of Yisra’ĕl ate manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land. They ate manna until they came to the border of the land of Kena‛an.


“Go, and you shall cry in the hearing of Yerushalayim, saying, ‘Thus said יהוה, “I remember you, the loving-commitment of your youth, the love of your bridehood, when you went after Me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown.


“I knew you in the wilderness, in the land of drought.


“And I brought you up from the land of Mitsrayim, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.


And יהוה spoke to Mosheh in the Wilderness of Sinai, in the Tent of Appointment, on the first day to the second new moon, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Mitsrayim, saying,


And your sons shall be wanderers in the wilderness forty years, and shall bear your whorings, until your carcasses are consumed in the wilderness.


According to the number of the days in which you spied out the land, forty days – a day for a year, a day for a year – you are to bear your crookednesses forty years, and you shall know My breaking off.


And Elohim said to Bil‛am, “Do not go with them. You do not curse the people, for they are blessed.”


“So the displeasure of יהוה burned against Yisra’ĕl, and He made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation that had done evil in the eyes of יהוה was destroyed.


And He said to them, “When I sent you without purse and bag and sandals, did you lack any?” And they said, “None at all.”


“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.


“Then we set out from Ḥorĕḇ, and went through all that great and awesome wilderness which you saw on the way to the mountains of the Amorites, as יהוה our Elohim had commanded us. And we came to Qaḏĕsh Barnĕa.


“So you dwelt in Qaḏĕsh many days, according to the days that you dwelt.


“And the time we took to come from Qaḏĕsh Barnĕa until we passed over the wadi Zereḏ was thirty-eight years, until all the generation of the men of battle was consumed from the midst of the camp, as יהוה had sworn to them.


“What food you buy from them with silver you shall eat. And also, what water you buy from them with silver you shall drink.


“But יהוה has not given you a heart to know and eyes to see and ears to hear, till this day.


“And I have led you forty years in the wilderness. Your garments have not worn out on you, and your sandals have not worn out on your feet.


For the children of Yisra’ĕl walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the nation – the men of battle who came out of Mitsrayim – were consumed, because they did not obey the voice of יהוה, to whom יהוה swore not to show them the land which יהוה had sworn to their fathers that He would give us, “a land flowing with milk and honey.”
