38 And Elisha returned to Gilgal. And the scarcity of food was in the land, and the sons of the prophets were sitting before him. And he said to his servant, “Put on the large pot, and cook stew for the sons of the prophets.”

And Ya‛aqoḇ cooked a stew, and Ěsaw came in from the field, and he was weary.


And there was a scarcity of food in the days of Dawiḏ for three years, year after year. And Dawiḏ sought the face of יהוה, and יהוה answered, “Because of Sha’ul and his bloodthirsty house, because he killed the Giḇ‛onites.”


And Ěliyahu the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gil‛aḏ, said to Aḥaḇ, “As יהוה Elohim of Yisra’ĕl lives, before whom I stand, there shall be no dew or rain these years, except at my word.”


And it came to be, when יהוה was to take up Ěliyahu to the heavens by a whirlwind, that Ěliyahu went with Elisha from Gilgal.


And the sons of the prophets who were at Bĕyth Ěl came out to Elisha, and said to him, “Do you know that יהוה is taking away your master from your head?” And he said, “I also know, be silent!”


And a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared יהוה. And the lender has come to take my two sons to be his slaves.”


And one went out to the field to gather plants, and found a wild vine, and gathered wild cucumbers from it, filling the skirt of his garment, and came and sliced them into the pot of stew, though they did not know what they were.


And Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had restored to life, saying, “Rise up and go, you and your household, and sojourn wherever you do sojourn, for יהוה has called for a scarcity of food, and also, it is coming upon the land for seven years.”


They pluck salt herbs by the bushes, and broom tree roots for their food.


“Blessed is the man who listens to me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors.


who are saying, ‘It is not near, let us build houses. This city is the cooking pot, and we are the meat.’


Therefore thus said the Master יהוה, “Your slain whom you have laid in its midst, they are the meat, and this city is the cooking pot. But I shall bring you out of the midst of it.


“Son of man, when a land sins against Me to commit a trespass, and I shall stretch out My hand against it, and cut off its supply of bread and send scarcity of food on it, and cut off man and beast from it,


“And speak a parable to the rebellious house, and you shall say to them, ‘Thus said the Master יהוה, “Put on a pot, put it on, and also pour water into it.


‘When I have cut off your supply of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall bring back to you your bread by weight, and you shall eat and not be satisfied.


And Amos answered and said to Amatsyah, “I am not a prophet, nor am I a son of a prophet, for I am a herdsman and a grower of sycamore figs.


But He answering, said to them, “You give them to eat.” And they said to Him, “Should we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give them to eat?”


And she had a sister called Miryam, who also sat at the feet of יהושע and heard His word.


And it came to be, after three days, that they found Him in the Set-apart Place, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.


“But truly I say to you, many widows were in Yisra’ĕl in the days of Ěliyahu, when the heaven was shut up for three years and six months, and there was a great scarcity of food in all the land,


So they came out to see what had taken place, and came to יהושע, and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at the feet of יהושע, dressed, and in his right mind. And they were afraid.


And the man from whom the demons had gone out was begging Him to be with Him. But יהושע sent him away, saying,


But He said to them, “You give them to eat.” And they said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fishes, unless we go and buy food for all these people.”


Then יהושע said to them, “Children, have you any food?” They answered Him, “No.”


So when they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread.


how Elohim did anoint יהושע of Natsareth with the Set-apart Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for Elohim was with Him.


And after some days Sha’ul said to Barnaḇa, “Let us now go back and visit our brothers in every city where we proclaimed the Word of יהוה, and see how they are.”


“I am indeed a Yehuḏi, having been born in Tarsos of Kilikia, but brought up in this city at the feet of Gamli’ĕl, having been instructed according to the exactness of the Torah of our fathers, being ardent for Elohim, as you all are today,


And Sha’ul sent messengers to take Dawiḏ. And they saw the assembly of the prophets prophesying, and Shemu’ĕl standing as leader over them, and the Spirit of Elohim came upon the messengers of Sha’ul, and they also prophesied.
