29 In the days of Peqaḥ sovereign of Yisra’ĕl, Tiḡlath-Pileser sovereign of Ashshur came and took Iyon, and Aḇĕl Bĕyth Ma‛aḵah, and Yanowaḥ, and Qeḏesh, and Ḥatsor, and Gil‛aḏ, and Galil, all the land of Naphtali, and took them into exile to Ashshur.

And Menaḥĕm exacted the silver of Yisra’ĕl, of all the mighty men of wealth, of each man fifty sheqels of silver, to give to the sovereign of Ashshur. And the sovereign of Ashshur turned back, and did not stay there in the land.


And he did evil in the eyes of יהוה. He did not turn away from the sins of Yaroḇ‛am son of Neḇat, who had made Yisra’ĕl sin.


And Hoshĕa son of Ělah led a conspiracy against Peqaḥ son of Remalyahu, and struck him, and killed him, and reigned in his place in the twentieth year of Yotham son of Uzziyah.


And Sovereign Aḥaz went to meet Tiḡlath-Pileser sovereign of Ashshur at Dummeseq, and saw a slaughter-place that was at Dammaseq. And Sovereign Aḥaz sent to Uriyah the priest a sketch of the slaughter-place and its pattern, according to all its workmanship.


And Aḥaz sent messengers to Tiḡlath-Pileser sovereign of Ashshur, saying, “I am your servant and your son. Come up and save me from the hand of the sovereign of Aram and from the hand of the sovereign of Yisra’ĕl, who are rising up against me.”


And יהוה rejected all the seed of Yisra’ĕl, and afflicted them, and gave them into the hand of plunderers, until He had cast them out from His presence.


until יהוה removed Yisra’ĕl from His presence, as He spoke by all His servants the prophets. So Yisra’ĕl was exiled from their land to Ashshur, as it is to this day.


In the ninth year of Hoshĕa, the sovereign of Ashshur captured Shomeron and exiled Yisra’ĕl to Ashshur, and settled them in Ḥalaḥ and Ḥaḇor, the River of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.


And the sovereign of Ashshur exiled Yisra’ĕl to Ashshur, and placed them in Ḥalaḥ and Ḥaḇor, the River of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes,


See, you have heard what the sovereigns of Ashshur have done to all lands by putting them under the ban. And are you going to be delivered?


And he looked at him steadily until he was ashamed. Then the man of Elohim wept.


for many fell dead, because the battle was of Elohim. And they dwelt in their place until the exile.


So the Elohim of Yisra’ĕl stirred up the spirit of Pul sovereign of Ashshur, even the spirit of Tiglath-Pileser sovereign of Ashshur. And he took the Re’uḇĕnites, and the Gaḏites, and the half-tribe of Menashsheh into exile, and brought them to Ḥalaḥ, and Ḥaḇor, and Hara, and the river of Gozan, unto this day.


and Be’ĕrah his son, whom Tiglath-Pileser sovereign of Ashshur took into exile. He was leader of the Re’uḇĕnites.


And Ben-Haḏaḏ listened to Sovereign Asa and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Yisra’ĕl, and they struck Iyon, and Dan, and Aḇĕl Mayim, and all the storage cities of Naphtali.


“And now, our Elohim, the great, the mighty, and awesome Ěl, guarding the covenant and the loving-commitment, let not all the trouble that has come upon us, our sovereigns and our heads, our priests and our prophets, our fathers and on all Your people, from the days of the sovereigns of Ashshur until this day, seem little before You.


Your land is laid waste, your cities are burned with fire, strangers devour your land in your presence. And it is laid waste, as overthrown by strangers.


“Truly, יהוה, the sovereigns of Ashshur have laid waste all the lands, and their land,


“For before the child knows to refuse evil and choose the good, the land that you dread is to be forsaken by both her sovereigns.


In that day יהוה shall shave with a razor hired beyond the River – with the sovereign of Ashshur – the head and the hair of the legs, and also remove the beard.


“Therefore I have given her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Ashshurians, for whom she lusted.


‘And I shall lay the land waste, and your enemies who dwell in it shall be astonished at it.


Thus said יהוה, “For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I do not turn it back, because they ripped open the pregnant women in Gil‛aḏ, to enlarge their border.


Thus said יהוה, “For three transgressions of Dammeseq, and for four, I do not turn it back, because they threshed Gil‛aḏ with threshing implements of iron.


“Therefore I shall send you into exile beyond Dammeseq,” said יהוה Elohim of hosts – His Name.


“For look, I am raising up a nation against you, O house of Yisra’ĕl,” declares יהוה Elohim of hosts, “and they shall oppress you from the entrance of Ḥamath to the wadi Araḇah.”


And the children of Re’uḇĕn and the children of Gaḏ had much livestock, a large number. And they saw the land of Ya‛zĕr and the land of Gil‛aḏ and saw that the place was a place for livestock.


So Mosheh gave Gil‛aḏ to Maḵir, son of Menashsheh, and he dwelt in it.


“יהוה causes you to be defeated before your enemies – you go out one way against them and flee seven ways before them. And you shall become a horror to all the reigns of the earth.


“And to Maḵir I gave Gil‛aḏ.


And it came to be, when Yaḇin sovereign of Ḥatsor heard, that he sent to Yoḇaḇ sovereign of Maḏon, and to the sovereign of Shimron, and to the sovereign of Aḵshaph,


And Yehoshua turned back at that time and captured Ḥatsor, and struck its sovereign with the sword, for Ḥatsor was formerly the head of all those reigns.


However, Yisra’ĕl did not burn any cities that stood on their mounds, but Yehoshua burned only Ḥatsor.

And the border went out toward the sea, to Miḵmethath on the north, then the border went around eastward to Ta’anath Shiloh, and passed over it on the east of Yanoḥah,


And the cities of defence were Tsiddim, Tsĕr, and Ḥammath, Raqqath, and Kinnereth,


and Qeḏesh, and Eḏre‛i, and Ěn Ḥatsor,


So they set apart Qeḏesh in Galil, in the mountains of Naphtali, and Sheḵem in the mountains of Ephrayim, and Qiryath Arba, that is Ḥeḇron, in the mountains of Yehuḏah.


And the children of Dan set up for themselves the carved image. And Yehonathan son of Gĕreshom, son of Menashsheh, and his sons were priests to the tribe of Dan until the day the land was taken into exile.


Therefore יהוה sold them into the hand of Yaḇin the sovereign of Kena‛an, who reigned in Ḥatsor. And the commander of his army was Sisera, who was dwelling in Ḥarosheth Haggoyim.
