13 and looked and saw the sovereign standing by his column at the entrance. And the chiefs and the trumpeters were beside the sovereign, and all the people of the land rejoicing and blowing trumpets, also the singers with instruments of song, and those who led in praise. And the sovereign stood by the column and made a covenant before יהוה, to follow יהוה and to guard His commands and His witnesses and His laws, with all his heart and all his being, to establish the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.


And they hurried, and each one took his garment and put it under him on the top of the steps. And they blew with the shophar, saying, “Yĕhu reigns!”


Thereupon Yehoram turned his hands around and fled, and said to Aḥazyahu, “Treachery, O Aḥazyah!”


And also those who were near to them, from as far away as Yissasḵar and Zeḇulun and Naphtali, were bringing food on donkeys and camels, on mules and cattle – food of flour and cakes of figs and cakes of raisins, wine and oil and cattle and sheep in great quantities, for there was joy in Yisra’ĕl.

And Athalyahu heard the noise of the people running and praising the sovereign, and she came to the people in the House of יהוה,


And Yehoyaḏa the priest brought out the commanders of hundreds who were set over the army, and said to them, “Take her outside the ranks, and slay with the sword whoever follows her.” For the priest said, “Do not kill her in the House of יהוה.”


And the sovereign stood in his place and made a covenant before יהוה, to follow יהוה and to guard His commands and His witnesses and His laws, with all his heart and all his being, to do the words of the covenant that were written in this book.


There they are in great fear, For יהוה is with the generation of the righteous.


When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices. And when the wrong perish, there is shouting.


When the righteous increase, the people rejoice; But when a wrong one rules, the people sigh.


For even man does not know his time. Like fish taken in an evil net, and like birds caught in a snare, so the sons of men are snared in an evil time, when it comes down on them suddenly.


“And the prince shall enter by way of the porch of that gate from the outside, and he shall stand by the post. And the priests shall prepare his ascending offering and his peace offerings. And he shall bow himself at the threshold of the gate, and shall go out, but the gate is not shut until evening.


And the people took food and their shopharot in their hands. And he sent away all the rest of Yisra’ĕl, each to his tent, but held onto those three hundred men. Now the camp of Miḏyan was below him in the valley.
