6 Then the rulers of Yisra’ĕl and the sovereign humbled themselves, and they said, “יהוה is righteous.”

And when he humbled himself, the wrath of יהוה turned from him, so as not to destroy him completely. And matters also went well in Yehuḏah.


And he had brothers, the sons of Yehoshaphat: Azaryahu, and Yeḥi’ĕl, and Zeḵaryahu, and Azaryahu, and Miḵa’ĕl, and Shephatyahu. All these were sons of Yehoshaphat sovereign of Yisra’ĕl.


Then Ḥizqiyahu humbled himself for the pride of his heart, he and the inhabitants of Yerushalayim, so that the wrath of יהוה did not come upon them in the days of Ḥizqiyahu.


And when he was in distress, he sought the face of יהוה his Elohim, and humbled himself greatly before the Elohim of his fathers,


And his prayer, and his entreaty, and all his sin, and his trespass, and the places where he built high places and set up the Ashĕrim and the carved images, before he was humbled, see, they are written among the words of the seers.


And he did not humble himself before יהוה, as his father Menashsheh had humbled himself, for Amon trespassed more and more.


He sings to men and says, ‘I have sinned, and I have perverted what was right, and it did not profit me.


יהוה is righteous, He has cut the cords of the wrong in two.


And Mosheh and Aharon came in to Pharaoh and said to him, “Thus said יהוה Elohim of the Hebrews, ‘Till when shall you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Let My people go, so that they serve Me.


Pharaoh then sent and called for Mosheh and for Aharon, and said to them, “I have sinned this time. יהוה is righteous, and my people and I are wrong.


Listen and give ear, do not be proud, for יהוה has spoken.


Say to the sovereign and to the sovereigness mother, “Humble yourselves. Sit down, for your rule, the crown of your comeliness, has come down.”


To this day they have not been humbled, nor have they feared, nor have they walked in My Torah and in My laws that I set before you and your fathers.’


יהוה is righteous, for I rebelled against His mouth. Hear now, all peoples, and see my pain. My maidens and my young men have gone into captivity.


“And you his son, Bĕlshatstsar, have not humbled your heart, although you knew all this.


“Hence יהוה has watched over the evil and has brought it upon us. For יהוה our Elohim is righteous in all the works which He has done, but we have not obeyed His voice.


“I shall go, I shall return to My place, until they confess their guilt and seek My face, in their distress diligently search for Me, and say,


“I say to you, this man went down to his house declared right, rather than the other. For everyone who is exalting himself shall be humbled, and he who is humbling himself shall be exalted.”


For not knowing the righteousness of Elohim, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of Elohim.


Humble yourselves in the sight of the Master, and He shall lift you up.


But He gives greater favour. Because of this He says, “Elohim resists the proud, but gives favour to the humble.”


And Aḏoni-Ḇezeq said, “Seventy sovereigns with their thumbs and big toes cut off used to gather food under my table. As I have done, so Elohim has repaid me.” And they brought him to Yerushalayim, and he died there.
