1 Kings 3:1 - The Scriptures 2009

1 And Shelomoh joined in marriage with Pharaoh sovereign of Mitsrayim, and took the daughter of Pharaoh, and brought her to the City of Dawiḏ until he had completed building his own house, and the House of יהוה, and the wall all around Yerushalayim.

But Dawiḏ captured the stronghold of Tsiyon, the City of Dawiḏ.


And Sovereign Shelomoh loved many foreign women in addition to the daughter of Pharaoh: Mo’aḇite, Ammonite, Eḏomite, Tsiḏonian, and Ḥittite women;


And Dawiḏ slept with his fathers, and was buried in the City of Dawiḏ.


And it came to be, in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Yisra’ĕl had come out of the land of Mitsrayim, in the fourth year of the reign of Shelomoh over Yisra’ĕl, in the new moon of Ziw, which is the second new moon, that he began to build the House of יהוה.


And Shelomoh built his own house for thirteen years, and he completed his entire house.


And the house where he was to dwell, in the other courtyard, within the hall was of like workmanship. And Shelomoh made a house like this hall for Pharaoh’s daughter, whom he had taken.


And it came to be, when Shelomoh had finished building the House of יהוה and the house of the sovereign, and all the desire of Shelomoh which he was pleased to do,


And it came to be, at the end of twenty years, that Shelomoh had built the two houses, the House of יהוה and the house of the sovereign.


But the daughter of Pharaoh came up from the City of Dawiḏ to her house that he built for her. Then he built Millo.


And Dawiḏ dwelt in the stronghold, so they called it the City of Dawiḏ.


And Yehoshaphat had great riches and esteem, and allied himself with Aḥaḇ by marriage.


And Shelomoh brought the daughter of Pharaoh up from the City of Dawiḏ to the house he had built for her, for he said, “My wife does not dwell in the house of Dawiḏ sovereign of Yisra’ĕl, for the place where the ark of יהוה has come, is set-apart.”


And this is the answer they gave us, saying, “We are the servants of the Elah of heaven and earth, and we are rebuilding the House that was built many years ago, which a great sovereign of Yisra’ĕl built and completed.


should we turn back, to break Your commands, and join in marriage with the people of these abominations? Would You not be enraged with us until You had consumed us, so that there would be no remnant or survivor?
