1 And it came to be, when Dawiḏ was dwelling in his house, that Dawiḏ said to Nathan the prophet, “See, I am dwelling in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of יהוה is under curtains.”

Then יהוה sent Nathan to Dawiḏ. And he came to him, and said to him, “There were two men in one city, one rich and the other poor.


and sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet, and called his name Yeḏiḏeyah, because of יהוה.


So they brought the ark of יהוה in, and set it in its place in the midst of the Tent that Dawiḏ had pitched for it. And Dawiḏ brought ascending offerings before יהוה, and peace offerings.


So they informed the sovereign, saying, “Here is Nathan the prophet.” And when he came in before the sovereign, he bowed down before the sovereign with his face to the ground.


and the sovereign has sent with him Tsaḏoq the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benayahu son of Yehoyaḏa, and the Kerĕthites, and the Pelĕthites. And they had him ride on the sovereign’s mule.


But Tsaḏoq the priest, and Benayahu son of Yehoyaḏa, and Nathan the prophet, and Shim‛i, and Rĕ‛i, and the mighty men who belonged to Dawiḏ were not with Aḏoniyahu.


“And it was in the heart of my father Dawiḏ to build a house for the Name of יהוה Elohim of Yisra’ĕl.


And Ḥiram sovereign of Tsor sent messengers to Dawiḏ, and cedar trees, with stonemasons and carpenters, to build him a house.


And he built houses for himself in the City of Dawiḏ. And he prepared a place for the ark of Elohim, and pitched a tent for it.


And they brought the ark of Elohim, and set it in the midst of the Tent that Dawiḏ had pitched for it. And they brought ascending offerings and peace offerings before Elohim.


And Nathan said to Dawiḏ, “Do all that is in your heart, for Elohim is with you.”


“For I have not dwelt in a house since the time that I brought up Yisra’ĕl, even to this day, but have gone from tent to tent, and from one Dwelling Place to another.


He also called for his son Shelomoh, and commanded him to build a house for יהוה Elohim of Yisra’ĕl.


And Dawiḏ said to Shelomoh, “My son, as for me, it has been in my heart to build a house to the Name of יהוה my Elohim,


Then Sovereign Dawiḏ rose to his feet and said, “Hear me, my brothers and my people: I had it in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of יהוה, and for the footstool of our Elohim, and had made preparations to build it.


And the acts of Sovereign Dawiḏ, first and last, see, they are written in the book of Shemu’ĕl the seer, in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gaḏ the seer,


However, Dawiḏ had brought up the ark of Elohim from Qiryath Ye‛arim to the place Dawiḏ had prepared for it, for he had pitched a tent for it in Yerushalayim.


Until I find a place for יהוה, A dwelling place for the Mighty One of Ya‛aqoḇ.


“And make the Dwelling Place with ten curtains of fine woven linen and blue and purple and scarlet material. Make them, with keruḇim, the work of a skilled workman.


“Do you reign because you enclose yourself in cedar? Did not your father eat and drink, and do right-ruling and righteousness? Then it was well with him.


I, Neḇuḵaḏnetstsar, was at rest in my house, and prospering in my palace.


“Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your panelled houses, and this House be in ruins?”


“When you looked for much, then see, it came to little. And when you brought it home, I would blow on it. Why?” declares יהוה of hosts. “Because of My House which lies in ruins, while each of you runs to his own house.


who found favour before Elohim and asked to find a dwelling for the Elohim of Ya‛aqoḇ,
