22 The iniquities of the wicked ensnare him, and he is caught in the toils of his sin.

The wicked is overthrown through his evil-doing, but the righteous finds refuge through his integrity.


A fool's mouth is his ruin, and his lips are a snare to himself.


If you say, “Behold, we did not know this,” does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who keeps watch over your soul know it, and will he not requite man according to his work?


He who digs a pit will fall into it, and a stone will come back upon him who starts it rolling.


And I found more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and nets, and whose hands are fetters; he who pleases God escapes her, but the sinner is taken by her.


Your wickedness will chasten you, and your apostasy will reprove you. Know and see that it is evil and bitter for you to forsake the Lord your God; the fear of me is not in you, says the Lord God of hosts.


“My transgressions were bound into a yoke; by his hand they were fastened together; they were set upon my neck; he caused my strength to fail; the Lord gave me into the hands of those whom I cannot withstand.


For the day of the Lord is near upon all the nations. As you have done, it shall be done to you, your deeds shall return on your own head.


But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against the Lord; and be sure your sin will find you out.


Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled; for God will judge the immoral and adulterous.


Then the men of Israel turned, and the men of Benjamin were dismayed, for they saw that disaster was close upon them.


and God also made all the wickedness of the men of Shechem fall back upon their heads, and upon them came the curse of Jotham the son of Jerubbaal.
