18 I am not speaking of you all; I know whom I have chosen; it is that the scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He who ate my bread has lifted his heel against me.’

The disciples looked at one another, uncertain of whom he spoke.


Jesus answered, “It is he to whom I shall give this morsel when I have dipped it.” So when he had dipped the morsel, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot.


You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide; so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.


If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.


It is to fulfil the word that is written in their law, ‘They hated me without a cause.’


While I was with them, I kept them in thy name, which thou hast given me; I have guarded them, and none of them is lost but the son of perdition, that the scripture might be fulfilled.


This was to fulfil the word which Jesus had spoken to show by what death he was to die.
