When the trumpet sounds, he says ‘Aha!’ He smells the battle from afar, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.


If I summoned him and he answered me, I would not believe that he was listening to my voice.


My anguish, my anguish! I writhe in pain! Oh, the walls of my heart! My heart is beating wildly; I cannot keep silent; for I hear the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.


I have given heed and listened, but they have not spoken aright; no man repents of his wickedness, saying, ‘What have I done?’ Every one turns to his own course, like a horse plunging headlong into battle.


Is a trumpet blown in a city, and the people are not afraid? Does evil befall a city, unless the Lord has done it?


And while they still disbelieved for joy, and wondered, he said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?”
