Jeremiah 31:40 - Revised Standard Version

40 The whole valley of the dead bodies and the ashes, and all the fields as far as the brook Kidron, to the corner of the Horse Gate toward the east, shall be sacred to the Lord. It shall not be uprooted or overthrown any more for ever.”

And all the country wept aloud as all the people passed by, and the king crossed the brook Kidron, and all the people passed on toward the wilderness.


So they laid hands on her; and she went through the horses' entrance to the king's house, and there she was slain.


And the altars on the roof of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the Lord, he pulled down and broke in pieces, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron.


And he brought out the Asherah from the house of the Lord, outside Jerusalem, to the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and beat it to dust and cast the dust of it upon the graves of the common people.


So they laid hands on her; and she went into the entrance of the horse gate of the king's house, and they slew her there.


Above the Horse Gate the priests repaired, each one opposite his own house.


We have thought on thy steadfast love, O God, in the midst of thy temple.

See, I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms, to pluck up and to break down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.”


If at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom, that I will pluck up and break down and destroy it,


“Now therefore thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning this city of which you say, ‘It is given into the hand of the king of Babylon by sword, by famine, and by pestilence’:


and they shall be spread before the sun and the moon and all the host of heaven, which they have loved and served, which they have gone after, and which they have sought and worshiped; and they shall not be gathered or buried; they shall be as dung on the surface of the ground.


And he led me round among them; and behold, there were very many upon the valley; and lo, they were very dry.


They shall dwell in the land where your fathers dwelt that I gave to my servant Jacob; they and their children and their children's children shall dwell there for ever; and David my servant shall be their prince for ever.


and I will not hide my face any more from them, when I pour out my Spirit upon the house of Israel, says the Lord God.”


The circumference of the city shall be eighteen thousand cubits. And the name of the city henceforth shall be, The Lord is there.”


“So you shall know that I am the Lord your God, who dwell in Zion, my holy mountain. And Jerusalem shall be holy and strangers shall never again pass through it.


And it shall be inhabited, for there shall be no more curse; Jerusalem shall dwell in security.


And on that day there shall be inscribed on the bells of the horses, “Holy to the Lord.” And the pots in the house of the Lord shall be as the bowls before the altar;


When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples across the Kidron valley, where there was a garden, which he and his disciples entered.
