And Joseph's master took him and put him into the prison, the place where the king's prisoners were confined, and he was there in prison.


Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, “How did the Spirit of the Lord go from me to speak to you?”


and say, ‘Thus says the king, “Put this fellow in prison, and feed him with scant fare of bread and water, until I come in peace.” ’ ”


He went up from there to Bethel; and while he was going up on the way, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him, saying, “Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!”


Then Asa was angry with the seer, and put him in the stocks, in prison, for he was in a rage with him because of this. And Asa inflicted cruelties upon some of the people at the same time.

The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah while he was shut up in the court of the guard:


And those among the people who are wise shall make many understand, though they shall fall by sword and flame, by captivity and plunder, for some days.


and deliver him to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day.”


and the tenants took his servants and beat one, killed another, and stoned another.


Therefore I send you prophets and wise men and scribes, some of whom you will kill and crucify, and some you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from town to town,


Then he released for them Barabbas, and having scourged Jesus, delivered him to be crucified.

For he will be delivered to the Gentiles, and will be mocked and shamefully treated and spit upon;


And Herod with his soldiers treated him with contempt and mocked him; then, arraying him in gorgeous apparel, he sent him back to Pilate.

the gospel for which I am suffering and wearing fetters like a criminal. But the word of God is not fettered.


For you had compassion on the prisoners, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one.


Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.


And when their hearts were merry, they said, “Call Samson, that he may make sport for us.” So they called Samson out of the prison, and he made sport before them. They made him stand between the pillars;
