Now when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the royal family.

So all the people of the land rejoiced; and the city was quiet after Athaliah had been slain with the sword at the king's house.


And his servants conspired against him and killed him in his house.

If any one is to be taken captive, to captivity he goes; if any one slays with the sword, with the sword must he be slain. Here is a call for the endurance and faith of the saints.


Thus God requited the crime of Abimelech, which he committed against his father in killing his seventy brothers;


And Samuel said, “As your sword has made women childless, so shall your mother be childless among women.” And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the Lord in Gilgal.
