Exodus 16:8 - Revised Standard Version

8 And Moses said, “When the Lord gives you in the evening flesh to eat and in the morning bread to the full, because the Lord has heard your murmurings which you murmur against him—what are we? Your murmurings are not against us but against the Lord.”

“I have heard the murmurings of the people of Israel; say to them, ‘At twilight you shall eat flesh, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread; then you shall know that I am the Lord your God.’ ”


And Moses said to Aaron, “Say to the whole congregation of the people of Israel, ‘Come near before the Lord, for he has heard your murmurings.’ ”


Therefore the people found fault with Moses, and said, “Give us water to drink.” And Moses said to them, “Why do you find fault with me? Why do you put the Lord to the proof?”

“How long shall this wicked congregation murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the people of Israel, which they murmur against me.


And the people came to Moses, and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord and against you; pray to the Lord, that he take away the serpents from us.” So Moses prayed for the people.


“He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives him who sent me.


But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts?


“He who hears you hears me, and he who rejects you rejects me, and he who rejects me rejects him who sent me.”


Truly, truly, I say to you, he who receives any one whom I send receives me; and he who receives me receives him who sent me.”


Therefore he who resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.

Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.
