And Nehemiah, who was the governor, and Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, “This day is holy to the Lord your God; do not mourn or weep.” For all the people wept when they heard the words of the law.


I know that there is nothing better for them than to be happy and enjoy themselves as long as they live;


also that it is God's gift to man that every one should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil.


Behold, what I have seen to be good and to be fitting is to eat and drink and find enjoyment in all the toil with which one toils under the sun the few days of his life which God has given him, for this is his lot.


Her merchandise and her hire will be dedicated to the Lord; it will not be stored or hoarded, but her merchandise will supply abundant food and fine clothing for those who dwell before the Lord.


but those who garner it shall eat it and praise the Lord, and those who gather it shall drink it in the courts of my sanctuary.”

and spend the money for whatever you desire, oxen, or sheep, or wine or strong drink, whatever your appetite craves; and you shall eat there before the Lord your God and rejoice, you and your household.


You shall eat it, you and your household, before the Lord your God year by year at the place which the Lord will choose.


and you shall rejoice in all the good which the Lord your God has given to you and to your house, you, and the Levite, and the sojourner who is among you.


and you shall sacrifice peace offerings, and shall eat there; and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God.


“Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joyfulness and gladness of heart, by reason of the abundance of all things,


Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.
