Daniel 9:26 - Revised Standard Version

26 And after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one shall be cut off, and shall have nothing; and the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end shall come with a flood, and to the end there shall be war; desolations are decreed.

my strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue cleaves to my jaws; thou dost lay me in the dust of death.


Behold, the Lord has one who is mighty and strong; like a storm of hail, a destroying tempest, like a storm of mighty, overflowing waters, he will cast down to the earth with violence.


Now therefore do not scoff, lest your bonds be made strong; for I have heard a decree of destruction from the Lord God of hosts upon the whole land.


By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people?


therefore, behold, the Lord is bringing up against them the waters of the River, mighty and many, the king of Assyria and all his glory; and it will rise over all its channels and go over all its banks;


“Who is this, rising like the Nile, like rivers whose waters surge?


The sea has come up on Babylon; she is covered with its tumultuous waves.


“His sons shall wage war and assemble a multitude of great forces, which shall come on and overflow and pass through, and again shall carry the war as far as his fortress.


He shall set his face to come with the strength of his whole kingdom, and he shall bring terms of peace and perform them. He shall give him the daughter of women to destroy the kingdom; but it shall not stand or be to his advantage.


Armies shall be utterly swept away before him and broken, and the prince of the covenant also.


“And the king shall do according to his will; he shall exalt himself and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak astonishing things against the God of gods. He shall prosper till the indignation is accomplished; for what is determined shall be done.


And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week; and for half of the week he shall cause sacrifice and offering to cease; and upon the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator.”


And the Lord said, “Call his name Not my people, for you are not my people and I am not your God.”


Shall not the land tremble on this account, and every one mourn who dwells in it, and all of it rise like the Nile, and be tossed about and sink again, like the Nile of Egypt?”


The Lord, God of hosts, he who touches the earth and it melts, and all who dwell in it mourn, and all of it rises like the Nile, and sinks again, like the Nile of Egypt;


But with an overflowing flood he will make a full end of his adversaries, and will pursue his enemies into darkness.


“The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a marriage feast for his son,


The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city.


Behold, your house is forsaken and desolate.


But he answered them, “You see all these, do you not? Truly, I say to you, there will not be left here one stone upon another, that will not be thrown down.”


And Jesus said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? There will not be left here one stone upon another, that will not be thrown down.”


And when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed; this must take place, but the end is not yet.


And he said to them, “Elijah does come first to restore all things; and how is it written of the Son of man, that he should suffer many things and be treated with contempt?


they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led captive among all nations; and Jerusalem will be trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.


“As for these things which you see, the days will come when there shall not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.”


Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?”


and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead,


I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no power over me;


For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.


Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed be every one who hangs on a tree” —


For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.


He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.


For Christ also died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit;
