Daniel 8:15 - Revised Standard Version

15 When I, Daniel, had seen the vision, I sought to understand it; and behold, there stood before me one having the appearance of a man.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government will be upon his shoulder, and his name will be called “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”


And behold, one in the likeness of the sons of men touched my lips; then I opened my mouth and spoke. I said to him who stood before me, “O my lord, by reason of the vision pains have come upon me, and I retain no strength.


Again one having the appearance of a man touched me and strengthened me.


I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, a man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with gold of Uphaz.


I heard, but I did not understand. Then I said, “O my lord, what shall be the issue of these things?”


I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him.


“Here is the end of the matter. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts greatly alarmed me, and my color changed; but I kept the matter in my mind.”


In the third year of the reign of King Belshazzar a vision appeared to me, Daniel, after that which appeared to me at the first.


He said, “Behold, I will make known to you what shall be at the latter end of the indignation; for it pertains to the appointed time of the end.


Then I said, ‘What are these, my lord?’ The angel who talked with me said to me, ‘I will show you what they are.’


Then he left the crowds and went into the house. And his disciples came to him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds of the field.”


“So when you see the desolating sacrilege spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),


then will appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory;


“But when you see the desolating sacrilege set up where it ought not to be (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains;


so that they may indeed see but not perceive, and may indeed hear but not understand; lest they should turn again, and be forgiven.”


And he said, “No; but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and worshiped, and said to him, “What does my lord bid his servant?”


and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden girdle round his breast;


This calls for wisdom: let him who has understanding reckon the number of the beast, for it is a human number, its number is six hundred and sixty-six.
