Acts 7:8 - Revised Standard Version

8 And he gave him the covenant of circumcision. And so Abraham became the father of Isaac, and circumcised him on the eighth day; and Isaac became the father of Jacob, and Jacob of the twelve patriarchs.

How then was it reckoned to him? Was it before or after he had been circumcised? It was not after, but before he was circumcised.


To give a human example, brethren: no one annuls even a man's will, or adds to it, once it has been ratified.


This is what I mean: the law, which came four hundred and thirty years afterward, does not annul a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to make the promise void.


See how great he is! Abraham the patriarch gave him a tithe of the spoils.
