and certain worthless scoundrels gathered about him and defied Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and irresolute and could not withstand them.


Therefore the Lord established the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat; and he had great riches and honor.

May the kings of Tarshish and of the isles render him tribute, may the kings of Sheba and Seba bring gifts!


Do not give heed to all the things that men say, lest you hear your servant cursing you;


But they were silent and answered him not a word, for the king's command was, “Do not answer him.”


and going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.

But Saul said, “Not a man shall be put to death this day, for today the Lord has wrought deliverance in Israel.”


And Jesse took an ass laden with bread, and a skin of wine and a kid, and sent them by David his son to Saul.


Now the sons of Eli were worthless men; they had no regard for the Lord.


Now therefore know this and consider what you should do; for evil is determined against our master and against all his house, and he is so ill-natured that one cannot speak to him.”
